Brad Pitt, Johnny Depp Jump on Vampire Train
Posted by Sexy OK | Filed under Beauty and GossipOkay, we were really sure this vampire craze was dying down. After the new Buffy movie, the vampire romantic-comedy, the Swedish-vamp-movie remake, and the three remaining Twilight movies, what vampire territory will possibly be left to cover? We were convinced that everyone was moving onto werewolves.
But no, Johnny Depp and Brad Pitt had to go ruin our theory.
Brad Pitt, who of course played the tortured vampire Louis in 1994′s Interview with the Vampire, has announced that he’ll be producing a new movie with the studio behind Twilight. Called Vlad, the film will be based on the life of Vlad the Impaler, the sadistic Romanian prince who inspired the legend of Count Dracula. So far, Brad is being tight-lipped about whether he’ll star in the film; but he has a history of starring in his own productions, which include Troy and The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford.
Johnny Depp, on the other hand, will definitely be playing a vampire in his next project. Director and frequent Depp collaborator Tim Burton has confirmed that, after the pair wraps up their work on the forthcoming Alice in Wonderland, they’ll be tackling a feature film adaptation of the TV show Dark Shadows. A soap opera which aired from 1966 to 1971, Dark Shadows introduced supernatural elements to daytime TV for the first time (a trick that would later be adapted by shows like Passions and Port Charles). In the film, Depp will be playing the series’ most popular character, brooding vampire Barnabas Collins. To get a preview of the character, you can watch the short-lived ’90s revival of Dark Shadows on Hulu.
With two of the world‘s hottest leading men joining Team Vampire, the undead trend is bound to last for a while longer. But we’re still not abandoing the werewolf theory — Fox just announced a new drama series about werewolf families in Alaska.
